Recently a Decree was issued by the Synod of Bishops concerning the Western-Rite of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The immediate effect of which resulted in a restructuring of the Vicariate leadership in several crucial areas. Some of these changes have been difficult. Our Vicar Bishop, Jerome (Shaw) has been retired and no longer oversees the parishes of the ROCOR Western Rite. Our Pastoral Vicar, Anthony (Bondi), has also been released from his roles and responsibilities in the ROCOR Western Rite. We wish to thank them for their tireless leadership, service and support for these many years. We ask for your prayers for them and for our own intentions as we go forward.
His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, FIRST HIERARCH of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, has issued a formal Epistle clarifying some questions that have come up as a result of the recent changes in our leadership. You can read the Epistle by clicking here. Please continue to keep our ROCOR Western Rite communities in your prayers.
*Two things of special note are that all existing Western Rite parishes remain in good standing and are canonically resident within the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and they continue to exist under the direct Omophorion of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion.
